Qaplo – Televisi Republik Indonesia North Kalimantan Station is stepping up its campaign to introduce the 2026 FIFA World Cup broadcasts to the public. The outreach program is being carried out in busy public spaces and through direct visits to residents’ homes, including activities at the popular Car Free Day area in Tebu Kayan. Agung Kameswara, Head of TVRI North Kalimantan Station, said the initiative has been held every week since the campaign officially kicked off in February. The main objective is to ensure that residents are aware that TVRI holds the official broadcasting rights for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. To attract public interest, TVRI North Kalimantan has organized a variety of football-themed activities, including penalty kick contests, cheer-making competitions, and goal celebration challenges inspired by professional players. In addition to the entertainment, TVRI staff also assist residents in locating and tuning the TVRI channel on their televisions. The campaign is not limited to public venues. TVRI teams are also conducting door-to-door visits across different areas to help households that are still unable to receive TVRI broadcasts. According to Agung, community enthusiasm has been overwhelmingly positive, especially since the world’s largest football tournament is scheduled to take place from June 11 to July 19, 2026. One resident of Tanjung Selor, Zainuddin, expressed his excitement about TVRI serving as the official broadcaster. He hopes that once people successfully find the TVRI channel, they will be able to enjoy every match without any broadcast interruptions. Beyond the promotional campaign, TVRI North Kalimantan is preparing a series of public watch parties across several regencies and cities throughout North Kalimantan. These events will involve local Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) as part of support for government programs aimed at strengthening community-based economic growth. Agung explained that TVRI has already met with several regional leaders to discuss the watch party plans. In Nunukan, the event is expected to take place at the town square. In Tarakan, screenings will be centered at Gita Jalatama Food Court. Similar gatherings are also being prepared in Malinau and Tana Tidung, with locations planned around public squares and government centers. For Bulungan Regency, TVRI North Kalimantan is targeting the Brazil vs. Morocco match on June 14, 2026, as the centerpiece for a large public viewing event at the Tebu Kayan Car Free Day area. Through this extensive outreach campaign and the upcoming watch parties, TVRI North Kalimantan hopes the people of North Kalimantan will be fully prepared to welcome the 2026 FIFA World Cup while also creating valuable economic opportunities for local MSMEs.
